Obituary

Born on July 9, 1930, our mom, Josephine Maxine Perry Summers left us on November 21, 2025, to be with our Lord and Savior. Mom lived a long and fruitful life as she reached the age of 95. She was a gift to us from her parents, James Charles (JC) and Iva Perry. Mom was preceded on her last journey by her parents and 7 siblings Bernice, Dorothy, Betty, Patricia, Lyle, James and Gary Perry.

Mom grew up on the ranch in Baker, MT, which we believe gave her that can-do attitude that served her well over her many years. Mom had a great sense of humor and she loved a good joke or possibly even a prank, of which there were more than a few!

One of our favorite stories came from Miles City, MT. When our mom and dad, Roy (Bud) Berens were driving down the street together and in the process of entering Main Street, dad asked mom, "Is there anything coming your way?" She looked from her direction and responded, "Nothing but a big dog!" It was a Greyhound Bus. And that was mom!

Our mom had four children with Roy Berens: Sherry (Rich) Honken with 8 children - 4 daughters followed by 4 sons, Craig (Laura) Berens with 2 sons, Sheila and her 2 sons, and our youngest brother, Perry Berens. Together we gave her 12 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. We owe a special Thank You to our sister Sheila, who was mom's caregiver and constant companion. She added years to mom's life, hugs from above:)

The love of her life, our bonus dad, Roy (Zorro) Summers came into the family with his four children: Gary (Shan) Summers with 3 daughters and 1 son, Sherry (Jerry) Daniels with 4 sons, Buddy Summers with 3 sons and 2 daughters, and Kim Summers - deceased, with 3 daughters; (adding those 16 grandchildren) plus 56 great-grandchildren, and 37 great-great-grandchildren.

Mom felt so fortunate because each member of the blended families touched her heart in such unique and special ways! Throughout her life, we would continuously hear her bragging about any one!

Mom's favorite furry friend Kizzy ran ahead of her to wait by the pearly gates, loyal as ever.

Mom will be sorely missed by us, and all her friends and extended family. She is gone but not forgotten, I'm sure she'll leave the light on for all of us.

Mom will be laid to rest next to her husband, Roy Summers, in the Sugar City Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate, in loving memory of her, to your local animal rescue or shelter.
