Joan Woolley Brunson 90, longtime resident of Rexburg, died in her sleep on March 9, 2024 at 11:15pm of complications from Dementia.
She was born April 3, 1933 in Salt Lake City, UT. The only child of Robert Irvine Woolley and Rachel Barrell Woolley. She attended school in Evanston, WY. & Rexburg, ID graduating from Madison High School in 1951. She attended Idaho State University.
She married Harry Munns Brunson Aug. 22, 1953, in Long Beach, CA. Her beloved Dirty Harry proceeded her in death on Feb. 19, 2005. The marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple Nov. 24, 2006. They lived in Logan, UT and while Harry was in the Air Force in Belleville, IL and Savannah, GA. They made Rexburg their home since 1958.
Being a stay-at-home Mom made her the happiest, but before and after having her family she worked at First Security Bank, Century 21, Brunson Electric, and Madison Memorial Hospital, where she managed the volunteer program and the gift shop for almost 20 years, she retired in October of 2006 as one of the oldest employees at that time. She was a Madison County and City of Rexburg Registrar and Senior Election Judge for 45 years. She served as Secretary of the Civic Club, Treasurer for the Upper Valley Board of Realtors, Treasurer & Publicity Chairman for the Upper Snake River Bowmen and Class Reunion Chairman for the Madison High School Class of 1951 for most of their reunions.
She loved reading, flower arranging, painting, camping, and most of all her family, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Joan married Larry Evans Bell, a classmate in Dec of 2006. They made their home in Rexburg, until the expansion of BYU-I forced a move to Rigby, they spent winters in Yuma, AZ.
Surviving are Robert (Jeanne) Woolley Brunson, Lehi, UT, Cindy (Dave) Pinnock of Coos Bay, OR, Michael (Mick) (Amy) Harry Brunson of Meridian, ID, 11 Grandchildren, and 28 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands Dirty Harry and Larry Bell and her parents.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the old 2nd and 5th Ward LDS Chapel located at 170 W 1st S, Rexburg, Idaho. The family will receive friends at 10:30 at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery.
