Obituary

Joanna Mary Izzo-Thompson passed on July 19th, 2022 in a single vehicle incident. The incident happened on Highway 33 in Teton Valley, Idaho.

Joanna was born on August 26th, 1960 in Northridge, California, to Joseph and Zita Izzo. Joanna was number five of seven siblings, sister Ann Izzo; and five brothers, Victor Izzo, Dan Izzo, Ted Izzo, Vince Izzo, and Tom Izzo. A very loving family.

Joanna was married to Lawrence Thompson at Church of the Roses in Santa Rosa, California in 1997. Joanna and Larry had two beautiful daughters. Emily Thompson, arriving in 1998 and Josephine Thompson arriving in 1999.

Joanna loved her husband, daughters, and family more than anything in the world. Joanna loved everyone. And we mean everyone.

Joanna was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous with 36 years of continuous sobriety.

Joanna was one of the happiest and most powerful life forces to ever grace this world. She shared that with so many people. Not one soul touched by Joanna was ever the same and always left better for it.

Joanna raised her two daughters, Emily and Josie, took care of her husband and family, and tried to help and support so many other women both in recovery and outside of it.

Joanna had many debilitating health challenges since 2010 or thereabouts. The health challenges seriously altered her ability to participate in so many of the wonderful activities she had previously enjoyed. She loved hiking, going out to community events, traveling, and anything with her daughters.

Joanna had back surgery at the end of April 2022 and was making miraculous comeback at the time of her untimely death. It was a shock and most grievous to everyone who knew and loved Joanna.

Celebrations of life will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary, 581 E. 1st N., St. Anthony, ID and Saturday August 13, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church, 201 South Jackson Street, Jackson, WY.

Joanna's Prayer
I always feel your presence of joy and laughter, during challenging days and in happiness.
I cherish, above all, your companionship, that granted me strength in mind and body.
Of all of the gifts I have received, I hold the gift of your love, you breathed energy into my soul on this journey we call life…..
