John David Adams, 46 of Kimberly, Idaho, and formerly of Rexburg, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on June 21, 1972 in Cedar City, Utah, to David and Annette Halterman Adams. He grew up in Rexburg, Idaho where he set a high standard for his younger sisters and brother in faith, kindness, academics, baseball and basketball. John spent many early mornings and covered many miles exploring the outdoors with his family. He was influenced by many good friends and teachers at church and at school. John graduated from Madison High School in 1990, served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Osaka, Japan from 1991-1993, then graduated with high honors from Ricks College in 1994 with a degree in business management.

John met Cherice Clay at the information desk at Ricks College and quickly recognized that the world began and ended with Cherice. He wished very much to spend his life with her. John and Cherice were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on September 23, 1994. Their first home was in Logan, Utah, where John graduated from Utah State University with a major in accounting and a minor in Japanese. They moved to Provo, Utah, where their daughter Alyssa was born and where John earned an MBA from Brigham Young University. Their children Rachael, Connor, Ethan, Terren and Cole were each welcomed to the family as they lived in Bellevue and Monroe, Washington; Ammon and Middleton, Idaho; Herriman, Utah; and Rathdrum and Kimberly, Idaho. John's major occupation was accounting and financial administration in the healthcare industry.

John loved his family, and they loved him. They dreamed and carried out unforgettable experiences together like vacations, concerts, and going to Major League Baseball games. They also created treasured memories close to home like reading together, playing and coaching little league, enjoying nature, Friday night date nights and making trips to the dollar store.

John's faith in Jesus Christ was certain. He was a great anticipator of the Second Coming of the Savior. John viewed this life through a lens of faith; he perceived miracles in great and small moments. He served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, most recently as bishop in Rathdrum, Idaho. He was a loyal and kind friend who loved and believed in individuals and sincerely cared about their happiness. He and Cherice opened their home and hearts to those in need of help and healing.

John was a student of the scriptures and many other great books. He was a reader and a philosopher. He enjoyed studying and discussing the writings of our country's Founding Fathers. He was an enthusiast of good music, the beauty of the outdoors, Star Wars, food storage, and last, but not least, the Seattle Mariners. Most importantly, John loved so many people, and was loved by them in return.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the Summerfield LDS Chapel. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home and again from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery.
