John "Jack" Alexander Penrod, 86, passed away on March 6, 2015, at East Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
John was born on January 2, 1929, in Payette, ID, the son of Paul Alexander and Laura Hanby Penrod. He graduated from New Plymouth High School in New Plymouth, ID, in 1946.
John met his wife, Ruth Fishback, in high school. The two were married in New Plymouth on August 14, 1946. John served in the U.S. Air Force, and later worked selling insurance for Rushmore Mutual and then worked for Eastern Idaho Housing. John and Ruth lived in New Plymouth; Riverside, CA; Pocatello; and Idaho Falls.
John was preceded in death by his wife. John is survived by his sister, Marjorie Tennent of Denver, CO; his two sons, John Alexander Penrod, Jr. (Susan Huneycut) of San Antonio, TX, and Samuel Roy Penrod (Dana Bowen) of Rexburg; former daughter-in-law Deborah Huntsman of San Antonio; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Teton Post Acute Care and Rehabilitation Center in Idaho Falls for the loving care they gave John during the last year of his life, and also the wonderful nurses and medical staff at East Idaho Regional Medical Center who gave him such comfort during his final hours.
A viewing will be held Friday, March 13, from 5:30 to--7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 14, at 10:00am at Sutton Cemetery in Archer, Idaho.
