John S. "Circle P" Pocock, 66, of Moody, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 23, at EIRMC in Idaho Falls of natural causes.
John was born on November 11, 1946 in Rexburg Idaho to Ray Luke Pocock and Maurine Richman Pocock. He was the sixth of eight children and attended schools in Sugar City, Plano and Moody. John graduated High School in 1965 at Sugar Salem, and attended Ricks College for 2 years. During his high school days John spent time hauling hay, moving pipe, breaking horses and milking cows for various neighbors and his dad.
John found his best friend and high school sweetheart Colleen Klingler. They were married on May 12, 1967 in Moody. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. They celebrated their 45th anniversary together this year.
After their marriage John worked for Klingler Brother Farms and worked a night shift at the stud mill in St. Anthony, along with milking cows when he got home. John was always a hard worker. He later bought Frank Garn's home and farm in Moody, where they spent 40 years raising their family and establishing his farm, livestock and trucking companies. His favorite job and hobbies were feeding and caring for the cattle, quarter horses and enjoyed his draft teams.
John was an active member of the LDS church serving in various callings. He served as Elders Quorum President, ward clerk and was a counselor in the High Priest group. His favorite calling was teaching Primary.
John spent lots of time outdoors and enjoyed everything from farming, snow-machining, pack trips, fishing, taking long road trips with his loving wife and family, and riding around in his John Deere Gator. His personality and wit made it easy for him to establish many lifelong friendships. His family meant everything to him and he did anything for them. John loved service and touched many lives, some without even knowing them.
He is survived by his wife, Colleen, of Moody, children, John K (Melissa) Pocock, and Todd (Heather) Pocock of Sugar City, Jeff Pocock of Riverton, Utah, Codyann (Dallan) Jeppesen, and Dustin (Missy) Pocock of Rexburg; siblings, Ruth Willmore of Hibbard, Elaine (Alfred) Hunter of West Jordan, Utah, and Richard (Jane) Pocock of Moody; and 24 grandkids and 5 great-grandchildren.
He's reunited with his parents, Ray and Maurine, two brothers, Robert and Ralph, and 2 sisters, Norma and Renee.
Dad was suddenly called home, but his legacy, sense of humor, and spirit will always be with us.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28, at the Teton LDS Chapel with Bishop Blair Poulsen officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Teton 1st Ward missionary fund.
