Obituary

John Edward Raybould passed away Monday, March 28, 2011, following a brief illness, in Rexburg, Idaho.

Born on July 5, 1941, to Leland E. Raybould and Mary Hunt Raybould in Rexburg, Idaho, John's birth made him the youngest member of the Raybould family. During high school and college, John followed family tradition by working on the family farm.

Starting a new tradition, John partnered with his brother Dell in 1961 to expand the farming operation. John and Dell were later joined by John's nephew and Dell's son, Jeff. The trio farmed in Hibbard, on the Rexburg Bench, and in the Egin Bench area. John and Jeff were close friends and partners even after John retired and moved to California for the winter and Idaho for the summers.

John's love of hunting, fishing, and golfing led him to many good friends in Idaho and California. Throughout John's life he valued these friendships. Shortly after high school, John earned his private pilots license and for many years enjoyed flying his plane from the Rexburg Airport, including a trip to Alaska. In June 1976, after the Teton Dam broke, John opened his home to family, giving them a place to stay for the rest of the summer.

John graduated from Madison High School and attended Utah State University for two years. John was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Married previously to Teddy Lou Call, John remained close to his stepchildren, Crystal Call Maggelet and Thad Call of Salt Lake City, Utah. John is survived by his brother, Dell (Vera) Raybould, and his sister, Mary Lee (Ramon) Curtis, of Rexburg. In addition, the family wishes to recognize the friendship and support of Toni Lusk. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Flamm Funeral Home, 61 North 1st East, in Rexburg, Idaho. The family will meet with friends Saturday at the funeral home for one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.
