Joleen Lindholm Summers passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 25, 2026.
Joleen was born April 22, 1931, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Elmer Lindholm and Theora Cooper Lindholm Fields. Joleen had two brothers and two sisters. She was next to the oldest.
She started school at Iona but during her growing up years she lived in Utah and Texas and finally settling in the Ucon area where she finished her education.
She met the love of her life Boyd Wells Summers in Firth, Idaho while attending a community dance. He called and asked her for a date, but she stood him up twice, so he figured that was enough. He tried one more time and he got the date and after three years of courtship they were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on March 18, 1949.
Joleen worked for Brunson Electric for a couple of years. She then worked for Ladle’s Upholstery shop. She liked this work and became very good at it. When Eldon Ladle retired, she bought the upholstery shop and named it Summers Upholstery retiring after 30 plus years.
She belonged to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as MIA President, Relief Society Secretary, Primary Teacher, Mia Maid Teacher, visiting teacher, and Inservice leader.
Boyd and Joleen have five children, Sid (Elaine) Summers, Rexburg; Debbie (the late Ricky) Mortensen, Rexburg; Judy (Alan) Huskinson, St. George, UT; Kent (Brenda) Summers, Rexburg; Karen (Brian) Dayley, Rexburg.
Joleen is survived by her 5 children, 20 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren and 29 great-great grandchildren. Brother El Boyd (Maralyn) Lindholm, sister-in-law Anna Louise Hilleshiem.
She is preceded in death by her husband Boyd Summers, parents, siblings Lois Anderson, Sharon Coyle, Tom Hilleshiem, son-in-law Ricky Mortensen, grandson Scott Summers, and granddaughter Katie Mortensen.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Aspen Home Health and Hospice for their gentle care and support.
