Jonathan McCoy

Jonathan "Jon" Travis McCoy, 38 of Newdale Idaho passed away Monday, September 28 at EIRMC in Idaho Falls due to complications to a blood clot.

Jon was born August 13, 1988 to Teresa Caldwell in Salt Lake City Utah, He is the fourth of five boys. Growing up Jon was actively being mischievous; he was always up to something. Jon was the biggest jokester and loved to tease and play pranks.

A lot of Jon's childhood was spent in Nebraska, then he later moved to Salem Idaho and attended Sugar Salem Schools; Jon graduated in 2006. Jon was a jack of all trades but found a huge passion in fixing and taking cars apart and putting them back together.

After high school Jon met his wife and the love of his life Monica Hook. Jon was not one for giving up and after many tries of asking Monica out, he won her over with his witty charm. They got married October 18,2008. They had two beautiful girls, Harlie Marie, and Madison Nancy. Jon loved being a girl's dad and he was instantly wrapped around their fingers. He loved them unconditionally and deeply.

Jon found a love in helping troubled youth; he started a job at Five County Detention Center. He later moved to work for the Juvenile Corrections Center both in St. Anthony. Where he was part of the rehabilitation of hundreds of Juveniles. Jon loved helping kids and making a difference in their lives and he would often use a lot of his own personal experiences to help mentor them.

After years, Jon's passion for cars came back Jon got into the industry working for Advanced Auto Parts part time before making the switch to Stones Auto Group in Rexburg and for the past six years, he has put his knowledge and skills to use being a parts representative. Jon loved his job and the people he worked with.

The last two months of Jon's life were very challenging. Jon was hospitalized August 4th with a flesh-eating leg infection and had to have many surgeries.

Jon was always positive and hopeful that he would get better. He was determined to get home to be with his family. Jon made many improvements and was able to return home on September 10th .

Jon continued to progress slowly with the help of Monica and his Home Health nurse. On September 28th he developed a large blood clot in between his lungs that cut short his life.

Jon is survived by his wife Monica and his two daughters Harlie (11) and Madison (7). His Mother Teresa Price and Father Wayne Price. His brothers Andrew Yon, Eric McCoy, Anthony Shaun McCoy and Jay Davis and sister Gina Price. He had many Brothers in Laws and Sister in Laws and countless nieces and nephews.

His wife would like to give special thanks to Enhabit Home Health for the care they rendered to Jon while he was home and to all the doctors and nurses at ERMIC who took such great care of Jon.

Jon will be missed deeply.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 5, 2026 at the Newdale LDS Chapel in Newdale, Idaho.  The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services at the church.
