Joyce Kaye Johnson Rowe Chriswell formerly of Idaho Falls, passed away on March 12, 2012 at her home in Yuma, Arizona in the arms of her sweetheart of 52 years, Thomas "Tom" Nels Chriswell. Joyce was born on December 14, 1935 to James Oliver and Emma Katherine Johnson in Burton, Idaho.

Joyce was a talented artist. She will always be remembered as a naturally gifted artist whether it be for her paintings and beadwork, flower gardens, cookies and rolls baked with love, her amazing pot roasts, stylish dress, and her creativity for decorating her homes. Her children will never forget the flash cards and Halloween costumes she made them, her spectacularly decorated Christmas tress, and the pictures she drew on their lunch sacks when they were in grade school that were the envy of the other kids at school.

Joyce was preceded in death by her first husband Jerald Levon Rowe in 1958 leaving her a young widow with 4 small children (Jerry Alan, Echo, Rhonda, and Rochelle). Joyce remarried Tom Chriswell on Feb. 3, 1960 and three more children, were born into the family. Two of the three, Kim Z and Tommy, survived. Joyce loved all her children unconditionally, encouraged them to be their own individuals, and would say of her children "You are my alpha and omega, my beginning and my end."

Joyce was also preceded in death by her parents and her beloved brother Ross Johnson. Joyce is survived by her husband Tom, her six children, eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, sister Rita Nelson, and many nieces and nephews who remember Joyce as their favorite Aunt.

There will be a private family service at the Flamm Funeral Home on Saturday, March 17th at 2:30 p.m. Joyce will be laid to rest at the Burton Cemetery.
