Joyce Bernice Atwood Davies, 70, of Plano, died January 24, 2014, at her home of natural causes.
She was born February 22, 1943, to Nephi Lindsay Atwood and Jessie S. Atwood of Cranbrook, Canada. She grew up in Cranbrook and came to live with her sister, Georgia Briggs in Rexburg, Idaho, where she attended high school at Madison High.
She was married for time and all eternity to Arliss Russel Davies of Rexburg, and sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on April 3, 1961. They lived in Rexburg and a few years later built their home and raised their four children in Plano.
Joyce was a devoted mother, grandmother and wife. Anyone that knew her knew that her family was her priority, second only to her involvement and love for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was active in Relief Society and served as president of the Primary and as a teacher.
She loved gardening and keeping her yard filled with flowers. Joyce especially loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren.
Survivors include her loving husband Arliss R. Davies; children, Darin Davies, Penny Gay Davies, Travis Davies and Karen Davies; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 30, at the Plano LDS Chapel with Bishop Kyle Williams officiating.
