On Friday, January 29, 2016, J True "JT" Hitesman passed away in his home in Teton, Idaho. JT was born in Rexburg, Idaho on April 7, 1965 to Justan and Elnora Hitesman.
JT grew up and attended school in Parker and St. Anthony, Idaho. He graduated from South Fremont High School, in 1983. He later moved to West Valley, Utah, where he attended trade school, studying auto mechanics, earning his ASC Certification. While residing there, he married Lucy Garrick on December 8, 1984. There they raised their children: Michael, Teddy, Dusty, and Nora.
JT worked various jobs while in Utah, mainly auto mechanics. One of his most memorable jobs was working for Brett Housekeeper, at a service station.
JT became greatly involved in Brett's racing business. He served as Brett's pit crew mechanic for several years and many races.
Sadly, Lucy passed away October 10, 1998. JT and his children moved to the Parker/St. Anthony area in 2000. He worked as a mechanic for Bergman & Sons in Idaho Falls
for a couple of years.
JT then landed his dream job, as an automotive technician, at Taylor's Chevrolet in Rexburg, ID, in 2004. He challenged himself daily to ensure he achieved his highest potential. He enjoyed a challenge when it came not only to his job, but also, applied to those close to him . He spent many hours away from work fixing cars for family and friends.
He married Vara McKelley on April 1, 2006. In forming this marriage, he welcomed three new children: Brandon, Alison, and Nikki. JT and Vara resided in Rexburg, Id until 2013 when they moved to Teton, where he was living at the time of his passing.
JT's favorite past times were hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR, and playing pool. He thrived on spending time with his children and grandchildren. "JT" time was spent riding his Vulcan 1600 motorcycle with friends and family and playing pool. JT had a great sense of humor and loved teasing children.
JT was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife: Lucy, and his grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Vara, his children: Michael of Idaho Falls, Teddy (Ashley) of St. Anthony, Dusty (Charlie) of St. Anthony, Nora (Keith) of Idaho Falls, Brandon of Teton, Alison (Carlos) of Phoenix, AZ, and Nikki (CJ) of Seminole, Fl. his brothers and sisters: Suzette Roseborough (John) of Teton City, Toni Chambers (Earl) of Lewiston, Cindy Hitesman of Palmer, Alaska, Wanda Acker (Randy) of Palmer, Alaska, Walter Hitesman (Linda) of Palmer, Alaska, Trudy Hitesman (Terry Tyrrell) of Houston, Alaska, Jason Hitesman (Virginia) of Houson, Alaska. JT had 19 grandchildren that he loved with all his heart.
Memorial services will be held Friday, February 5, 2016 at Bert Flamm Mortuary (581 E 1st N) in St. Anthony at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. The family will receive friends on Friday for an hour prior to services, beginning at 1 o'clock. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.flammfh.com.
