IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Julia
Hibbert
March 29, 1938 – July 10, 2024
Julia Nadine Hegsted Hibbert was born in Idaho Falls on March 29, 1938 to Victor Orville Hegsted and Julia Genevive Howe. Her father announced that the new 1938 model was "streamlined, and how" and had "water-cooled exhaust." She grew up on a ranch at Poplar, east of Heise, Idaho.
At 16 she lost her father and at 18 she married park ranger Roger Contor. They quickly became the parents of Bryce, Patrick and Craig, and enjoyed a magical life living in the national parks of the western US. In 1971 they divorced, and Julia moved with her boys to Rexburg, Idaho where her involvement in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints blossomed.
In 1976 she married Delvan Dee Hibbert in the Idaho Falls temple and acquired seven new children; Eric, Kim, Sherry, Tammy, Dianne, Dawn and Gwen. Dee and Julia moved to Tetonia, Idaho in 1978. Eventually Julia and Dee became the parents of their own bouncing baby boy David, "King of the Wild Country" to his father. Dee passed away in 2008 and Julia remained a widow in Tetonia for the rest of her life.
In Tetonia she stayed close to the Church, and served as a Relief Society President overlapping the tenures of three bishops. The loves of her life were the Gospel of Jesus Christ, her men and boys, horses, art, and travelling in her Oldsmobile. She passed away in Tetonia at the home of son David on the morning of July 10, 2024 at the age of 86.
She was preceded in death by her parents, older brothers Victor and George, a set of her own twins who did not survive until birth, and a great grandson. She is survived by younger siblings Evelyne and Glenn, six sons and five daughters including Dee's children, a passel of grandchildren and three passels of great grandchildren.
