IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kara Kennedy
Williams
July 2, 1970 – July 18, 2022
Kara Kennedy Williams, age 52, passed away 18 July 2022 due to complications associated with neuroendocrine cancer.
Kara was born to Paul K. and Sylvia (Hiatt) Kennedy in Whittier, California. She was the second oldest of 7 children. She and her family settled in Orem, Utah when Kara was 6 years old. She graduated in 1988 from Orem High School having played both varsity basketball and volleyball. Kara attended Brigham Young University and graduated with her B.S. in Clothing and Textiles in 1994. She spent her life devoted to her family.
Kara first met Christopher Glenn Williams the summer of 1985. Chris was enamored with Kara, who initially did not feel the same way. After several years of vying for her affection, they started dating. Kara and Chris were married on 24 April 1992, in the Salt Lake Temple. They moved around several times due to Chris' endless pursuit of higher education and finally settled in Rexburg where they have resided since 2004. Each one of their four children was born in different states (Tennessee, Utah, Missouri, and Idaho) which made it a fun adventure, even if they were not that adventurous. Kara loved spending time with the family playing games, going to movies, boating, traveling, or just sitting in the hot tub together listening to 80's music. She also loved being a soccer mom to Julia and all the Madison girls. She spent the last few years teaching and running the sewing lab at Brigham Young University-Idaho.
Kara had a love of reading and music. She and Chris enjoyed going to concerts, their favorite band being Duran Duran. They also took several trips to Europe, appreciating the culture, food and art. Kara loved gardening and taking long drives in her Jeep. She adored her little dog, Lucy, who passed two weeks before Kara.
Kara had a divine charisma and was deeply loved and admired. She touched the lives of those around her. She was filled with Christ-like love and had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Kara is survived by her husband of 30+ years, Christopher Glenn Williams, and four children, Eden (Blake) Anderson, Gabriel Fox (Gisselle) Williams, Julia Williams, and Lincoln Kennedy Williams as well as Kara's first grandchild to be born August 2022, son of Eden and Blake. She is also survived by her parents Paul and Sylvia Kennedy and her siblings: Michael (MaryLynn) Kennedy, Gregory (Farzana) Kennedy, Kristen (Matthew) Patten, Andrea (David) Throckmorton, David (Christina) Kennedy, Daniel (Chelsea) Kennedy, and Katie (Ryan) Bowles.
The family would especially like to thank Corina Knight for her loving hospice care, along with Dr. Jeff Hancock and everyone at Teton Cancer Institute for the past six years of care.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, at the Park Street LDS Chapel, 700 Park Street, in Rexburg. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg, and Thursday from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. at the church prior to services.
