Obituary

Karleen Kunz Kerswell passed away at her home on Sunday, February 12. 2012, following a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her family. Karleen was born in Rexburg, Idaho to Duane H. and Jean (Cooper) Kunz on September 5, 1942. She graduated from Teton High School and attended Ricks College.

She later graduated from the Henager Business College in Salt Lake City, which led her to a job in Washington D.C. While in D.C., she met and later married Dennis Poehler in 1966. They raised three wonderful children together and were later divorced. She married Terry Kerswell in 1993, and they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in 2002.
Karleen spent the majority of her years working for Idaho Falls School Districts 93 and 91 as a bus driver and district secretary.

She was an active and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Karleen and Terry had the privilege to serve a full-time LDS family history mission in Los Angeles, CA. Karleen was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, wife, and friend. She enjoyed quilting, playing Pinochle with her friends, long drives with Terry, and any free moments with her blended family.

Survivors include, her husband Terry Kerswell of Idaho Falls; son, Scott (Michelle) Poehler of Rigby; daughter, Lesli Poehler of Idaho Falls; daughter, Teresa (Craig) Eborn, of Shelly; son, Gary (Rhonda) Kerswell of Verona, Kentucky; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Duane and Jean Kunz, and first husband, Dennis Poehler.

A viewing will be held in Rexburg on Thursday, February 16th, at Flamm Funeral Home, 61 North 1st East, from 5:30 pm to 7:00. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 17th, at the Idaho Falls West Stake Center, 2040 Brentwood Drive, with Bishop Paul Chambers officiating. The family will visit with friends 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 prior to services at the Stake Center and a luncheon will be held immediately following. Burial will be in Cedron Cemetery under the direction of Flamm Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.flammfh.com
