Obituary

Richard Kay Biorn, 75 of St. Anthony, died Saturday, October 19, 2019 in Idaho Falls.


He was born on March 3,1944 to Merlin and Martha Biorn in Ashton, Idaho. He was the youngest of four sons, his brothers being Clayton, Jim and Eddy. Kay graduated from North Fremont High school, in the class of 1962. He then served as a missionary to the Central Atlantic States Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.


Kay was married to Carole Parkinson Cherry on August 25, 1965, whom he met in high school and while picking up milk for the cheese factory where he worked. He then served in the Idaho national guard, as a sergeant in the 116th Engineer Battalion and served a tour in the Vietnam War 1968-1969.


Kay was an outstanding member of the community, serving on the St. Anthony City Council, as an assistant manager of the local branch of Valley Bank, and worked as a Life and Health insurance agent.


He loved to ride motorcycles, was an avid fisherman, hunter, camper, bee keeper, and renowned gardener. He loved to travel to see grand kids, and was a jokester.


Kay enjoyed serving as an ordinance worker in the Rexburg, Idaho Temple, and had a firm testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He served many years in the Young Men Program, as scout master, in Bishoprics, and was the best mess sergeant for many ward functions.


He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers.


He is survived by his wife Carole, children, Bryant (Debbie) of St. Anthony, Michael (Camille) of Chubbuck, Brandon (Krista), of Boise, Kelly (Elisabeth), of St. Anthony, Amber (Mike) Davids of Stevensville MT, Kristen (Wade) Klingler of Woodland UT, and Rebecca (Austin) Holden of Spanish Fork UT, and by 20 grand children and one great grand child.


Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Anthony Idaho Stake Center, 247 E. 4th N. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. both times at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the Pineview Cemetery in Ashton with military rites by the Ashton American Legion and the Idaho Honor Guard. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
