Obituary

Mary Ann Kehaulani "Kay" Potter Henrikson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, passed away peacefully, Thursday, June 13, 2024,  leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion.
Born on July 28, 1947, in Oahu, Hawaii, to Alma and Mary Potter, Kay was the second daughter in a loving family. Born while her father was serving in the Air Force, Kay spent her early years traveling with her family, creating lasting memories and forming strong bonds with her siblings. From moving across states, sailing on the Queen Mary, and enduring farm chores to helping with family businesses, Kay's childhood was filled with adventure, hard work, and a deep sense of family unity.

Kay attended beauty school in Portland, where she lived with her sister Carol. She soon met James R. Henrikson on a blind date while he was on leave from the Marines. They married on November 4, 1967, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Their marriage, which spanned 53 years until Jim's passing, was a testament to their enduring love and commitment. They were blessed with eight children: Todd, Heidi, Joe, John, Katarina, Sheila, Jennifer, and Mandy. She loved being a mom and created a home rich in love and faith, always reminding her children to stand tall as children of God.

Kay ran her own preschool for 30 years, known affectionately as Mrs. Kay, and was also a trained hairdresser where she was able to help people feel better about themselves. Her church callings included an 8-year tenure as an ordinance worker in the Rexburg, Idaho Temple, a two-year mission in Nauvoo, Illinois and a one-year mission for the Pathway Program at BYU-I with her husband. She loved people and enjoyed teaching.
Kay is survived by her eight children: Todd & Heather Henrikson, Heidi & Yancie Kidd, Joe & Shirley Henrikson, John & Sarah Henrikson, Katarina Henrikson, Sheila Davis, Jennifer Henrikson & William Moncur, and Mandy & Kevin Whitmore. She is also survived by 36 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Additionally, she leaves behind her siblings: Carol Ann & the late Dennis Olpin, Richard & Patricia Potter, Daniel & Jeanine Potter, Robert & Stephanie Potter, and Donovan & Lorain Potter.

Kay's life was a testament to her strong faith and unwavering love for her family. She leaves a legacy of strength, love, and faith that will continue to inspire for generations to come.
