Kay H. Perrenoud, 80, of Rexburg, Idaho passed away surrounded by his family on June 19, 2016. He was born on July 14, 1935 to Leslie and Mary Norma Perrenoud in Hibbard, Idaho. Kay spent his early years on the family farm where he and his brother and sister enjoyed many outdoor activities. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. Kay graduated from Sugar Salem High School.
Kay married Ilene Fisher on November 21, 1956. They were blessed with five children: Doug, Jack, Bob, Ron, and Barbara. Kay and Ilene raised their family in the Rexburg area. During this time he worked as a truck driver. He put bread on the table by driving the Wonder Bread truck. Kay then went on to drive for Squires Brick and Masonry. He shared his love for the outdoors with his family as they spent many weekends camping and fishing. Kay and Ilene were later divorced.
Three weeks after their first date, Kay married Norma Muir on September 18, 1981. He was happy to add Norma's four children Celeste, Annette, Theresa, and Victor to his family. Kay enjoyed telling his grandchildren about raising nine teenagers at once! Kay and Norma continued to have great fun together over the next thirty-four years. They loved spending time with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Kay and Norma also loved to travel and explore. After they retired they traveled many places including Florida, Hawaii, and a memorable Alaskan cruise. They also took many trips together and with friends to enjoy the outdoors on their four wheelers. Even at 80 years old Kay could still be found on his four-wheeler on occasion.
Kay is survived by all nine of his children: Doug (Lisa) Perrenoud of Meridian, Idaho; Jack Perrenoud of Rigby, Idaho; Celeste (Neal) Moss of Laie, Hawaii; Robert (Rebecca) Perrenoud of Blackfoot, Idaho; Annette (Karl) Rose of Hyde Park, Utah; Ron (Kathy) Perrenoud of Rexburg, Idaho; Theresa (Paul) Cook of Atascadero, California; Victor (Tanja) Harrison of Rexburg, Idaho; Barbara (Hal) Gneiting of Mud Lake, Idaho; 37 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren with three more on the way. He is also survived by his brother Gale Perrenoud and his sister Myrna (Kenneth) Nix.
Kay was preceded in death by his loving wife Norma Perrenoud; his parents Leslie and Mary Norma Perrenoud; his brothers in law: Robert Muir, Merlin Muir, and Golden Muir and his sisters in law Emelia Muir Ward and Wanda Muir Perrenoud.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday June 22 at the LDS Rexburg 3rd Ward chapel (345 So. 3rd West). The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home and again on Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will follow at the Rexburg Cemetery.
