IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kay
Shawcroft
January 18, 1938 – May 20, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kay David Shawcroft. Kay lived a life of kindness, a zeal for life, a heart for service, and a devotion to family and friends.
Kay was born in Alamosa, Colorado, and grew up ranching and farming in a small community nearby. After high school, Kay answered the call of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to serve a two-year mission in Virginia, a time that strengthened his faith and commitment to others. Following his mission, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving his enlistment in Germany. Upon his return, Kay embraced the most meaningful chapters of his life—raising a family, practicing his faith, nurturing lifelong friendships, and pursuing his many hobbies.
Kay found joy in nearly every aspect of life, including a career delivering fuel to farms, ranches, and homes, but nothing brought him greater happiness than time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His love for family was unwavering, and he was always a source of warmth, encouragement, and fun adventures.
Kay is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Cle Rae; his brother, Curtis; his children, Leanne, Valerie, Cameron, and Sonda; and his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Zelda; his sister, Lynette; his son, Kevin: and his grandson, Brandon Vice.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, May 27, 2025, at Flamm Funeral Home, 61 N 1st E, Rexburg, ID. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 - 12:45 pm. A celebration of life reception will be held from 3:30 – 4:30 at Homestead Assisted Living Clubhouse, 408 West Main. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the American Heart Association.
