Kaye Hymas
Early Saturday morning, August 8, 2009, our beloved Mother and Grandmother Kaye Pieper Hymas passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Kaye was born November 23,1944, in Rexburg, Idaho, the third of four daughters of Albert and Metta Pickett Pieper. She attended schools in Rexburg, graduating from Madison High and Ricks College. Kaye married Mickey B Hymas on December 4th, 1965, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were later divorced. Kaye has been employed for over 21 years at Ricks College/BYU-Idaho. Kaye served in every auxiliary of the LDS Church, including Stake Primary and Sunday School Presidencies.
Kay was loved by many friends both young and old, and enjoyed being a part of their lives. Her friends remember her loving acts of kindness and thoughtfulness; she was always thinking of others. One trait Kaye was known for was that she never complained. Even during the hardest days of her illness, she remained optimistic. She fought her battle with cancer with a strength that inspired and humbled those around her. She set an example for her family that will never be forgotten. We have learned a true lesson from her about facing adversity with courage and faith in the Lord.
Kaye's greatest joys were spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her grandchildren will particularly miss the special birthday dates that Grandma "Gregs" would take them on. She is leaving a huge void in our lives, and will be deeply missed.
Kaye is survive by her four daughters: Shelly Dickson of Idaho Falls, Nikki (Max) Radford of Salem, Cherie (Gordon) Siepert of Rexburg and Britney (Mark) Pitcher of Idaho Falls; twelve grandchildren: Ty, Trevor and Kensley Dickson; Kourtney, Brayden and Bridger Radford; Keagan, Ashlyn, Ryker and Saige Siepert; and Taelor and (soon to arrive) Kaecen Pitcher; three sisters; Patricia (Jed) McFerson of Clearfield, Utah; Lynnette Hanson of Magna, Utah, and Jayne (Scott) Duvall of Payson, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude and appreciation for all the services provided by Rexburg Home Health and Hospice, and especially the loving care of Katie, Ambrea and Laurie.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 12th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Rexburg 12th Ward Chapel on Park Street. Bishop Kevin Shiley will officiate. The family will visit with family and friends on Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Flamm Funeral Home and Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the Rexburg 12th Ward Chapel.
