Keith Kinwood Wright, 73, passed away Monday, December 29, 2014, surrounded by his loved ones in Rexburg Idaho.
Keith was born on June 28, 1941 in Bisbee, Arizona. He spent his first years living between Bisbee and St. Anthony, Idaho. He was the oldest of 5 children born to the Wright family. He was very fun loving and happy.
Keith grew up in St. Anthony, where he graduated from South Fremont High School where he was a standout athlete and a talented dancer. He participated in Scouting and earned the rank of Eagle Scout at age 14. He was an avid fisherman and loved hunting with his family. In 1960, Keith joined the US Navy where he was an aviation technician working on navy jets in California.
In 1964, Keith was employed by IBM as a computer engineer in San Jose, California .
He married Joyce Hill Parkinson in Reno, Nevada in 1969. During their time in San Jose, they had two children, Suzelle and Korby. Keith enjoyed taking his family camping, water skiing, snow skiing and deep sea fishing.
Keith completed his education at San Jose State University where he majored in business finance with a minor in psychology. In 1976, Keith moved the family to Overland Park, Kansas but always dreamed of moving back to Idaho. In 1980, he got his wish and moved back to Idaho.
Keith had a passion for playing bridge and won many awards. He went on a cruise with friends and visited 4 continents. He traveled to all 50 states in the United States. Some of his greatest accomplishments were success in the Navy, his employment with IBM, a courageous battle was fought with cancer since 1995, and his children and their families. He was a "BIG" hit!
Keith was survived by his two children, Suzelle (Ron) Orr of Rexburg, Idaho and Korby (Kirsten) Wright, of Meridian, Idaho; grandchildren Bron Orr, Whitney Orr, Darric Orr, Kortney Orr, and Sabrina Wright; a great-grandson, Traevyn; brother Brian (Lois) Wright and sisters Teresa (Gary) Welbourn and J'Lene (Blaine) Erickson. He was preceded in death by his parents James E. and Ruth F. Wright and a sister Judy Mitchell.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, at the Salem LDS Chapel with Bishop Bill Dalling officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Wilford Cemetery under the direction of Flamm Funeral Home.
