Kelly Wood, 49, of St Anthony Idaho, passed away on June 8, 2025 at Carriage Cove in Rexburg Idaho, from a long hard battle of esophageal cancer.
Kelly was born on April 19, 1976 to Wendell Jay Wood and Sandra Irene Edwards Wood. Those who knew him know he did not go down without a fight that man fought and fought till his body just couldn't take anymore. He was the kindest, gentlest man I've ever known. He would give his shirt off his back for just about anyone in need.
He worked for Walters for 10+ years and loved every bit of it to the early mornings, late nights, and long days during his time at Walters he tipped over two different trucks and kept trucking along. There were countless times we got stuck or a vehicle would break down and I would call him and say " hey this, this and this just happened can you come save me?" his answer was always I am on my way right now and would rush out the door. There were countless drives we would take on a weekend and we would get lost. We always had the funnest time trying to find our way out. He was always such a free spirited man nothing bothered him, he was always easy to forgive and back to being good buddies with everyone.
Recently Kelly chose to start working towards being a member in the LDS church and he made it he got baptized and was so happy he had finally done it!
Kelly always had big ideas he would come home with another vehicle, animal, truck all the way down to a shopping cart and you would ask him what are you going to do with that and he would always come back with some major project and say oh someday I'm gonna do this or that with it and we would all just roll our eyes and laugh, we all knew they would still be sitting there for days, months or even years.
He would always come to our houses and say "I want to learn to cook, make bread, and bake goodies." He was always in the kitchen willing to jump in and help. He always wanted to plant a huge garden and live off the land we had started to do last year and never made it around to planting one again together this year.
He loved to hunt and fish with every fiber of his being, he and his dad always argued about who had the most deer or who had the most elk. I believe they are now even, he now gets to have that argument with his dad in heaven now. He was taken too soon. He will be loved and missed very much by everyone that knows him. Fly high the fight is over. Go catch those fish we never got to together.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at the Egin Bench Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m. also at the Egin Church. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
