Obituary

Kevin Riley Rogers, 37, formerly of Rexburg, Idaho passed away on February 3, 2015, in Kodiak, Alaska. Kevin was born June 28, 1977 in Boise, Idaho. He grew up and attended schools in Rexburg, Idaho. Following his graduation from Madison High School in 1995, he moved with his mother and brother to Sitka, Alaska where he worked as a carpenter, charter boat captain and then commercial fisherman.

Kevin was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He participated in scouting, his high school band program and working at "R" skating as a youth. He also enjoyed baseball, softball and golf. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. At age 5 he caught his first fish and he began his hunting adventure at age 11 when he shot his first duck at Beaver Dick Park in Rexburg. He worked with Ron and Hugh Blake, where he had countless adventures and close calls in both Alaskan and Hawaiian waters. He was considered a true Alaskan fisherman when he sunk a boat and lived to tell about it. He was at home on the water and fishing was his passion. He loved animals and children.

Kevin is survived by his parents, Gary and Peggy Rogers of Rexburg and Judy Westmoreland Rogers of Kodiak, Alaska; his siblings: Mike (Cynthia) Rogers of Eagle River, Alaska, Mary (Austin) Johnson, Darby Rogers serving an LDS mission in Michigan, Heidi (Brady) Cook of Idaho Falls, Jeremy Snell of Ucon, John (Mandie) Snell, Rexburg and Sesha (Jerimiah) Hammond of Shelley. He will be missed by his thirty-four nieces and nephews, who love him.

He was preceded in death by his sister Rebecca Rogers and nephew Reed Rogers, a baby niece, and grandparents.

Following funeral services February 19, in Kodiak, Alaska, a funeral will be held under the direction of the Rolling Hills Ward Bishopric at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 28 at the Rexburg East LDS Stake Center 387 East 4th South, Rexburg, Idaho.
