L. Floyd Smith
Lewis Floyd Smith, 88 of Sugar City, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at the Ashton Living Center of natural causes. He was born December 4, 1921 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lewis Frederick Smith and Mable Natter Smith. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Navy from 1942 until 1945. He married Yerda Ellis on December 21, 1944 at New Orleans, Louisiana. Their marriage was later solemnized January 22, 1948 in the Idaho Falls LDS temple. They were the parents of six children.
Floyd was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in a bishopric and as a High Priest and he enjoyed working in the Boy Scouts of America program. He worked in the auto body and paint industry for most of his life and was known as "Smitty" to his friends and co-workers.
He lived most of his life in Rexburg then nineteen years in Sugar City and for the past two years he has lived at the Ashton Living Center. His wife Yerda lived at the center with him until she passed away in July 2009.
He is survived by a sister, Dorothy Vest of Sandy, Utah, a brother Ken Smith of Boise, his children; Marla Naylor of Orofino, ID., LeAnn Radtke of Paradise, CA., DaNell Woodbury of Salem, ID., Ronny Smith of Boise, ID., and Gail Lords of Shelly, ID., 21 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Yerda Ellis Smith, a son Robert Lynn Smith a granddaughter Brenda Lee Roberts, two sisters; Mildred and Eleanor, a brother Harold Smith and his parents; Lewis Frederick Smith and Mable Natter Smith.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010 at the Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg with Bishop Dan Yardley officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery, with military rites by the Madison County Veterans Team. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.flammfh.com.
