Obituary

LaDean Stoddard McGarry was born in Rexburg Idaho on April 13, 1941 to Floyd M. Stoddard and Leah Elavon Meyers Stoddard. She was the oldest of two children. She passed away at her home on August 26, 2026 surrounded by family. She was the first girl born to the Stoddard and Meyers families. They all adored her and she learned at an early age to be a tuff cowgirl. She lived her early life in Plano and attended schools in Edmunds and Sugar City.

She married Theron Robert McGarry on May 28, 1958 and they were blessed with two children, Tina and Jeff. She and Theron along with their children spent many years building a cattle and guest ranch. They later divorced but remained close friends.

She was an excellent cook and kept a clean house but her true love was being on her horse in the mountains and with her dogs. She was a hard worker. She worked for American Potato, Wilcox Potato, and at the Rexburg Livestock Auction where she made many life long friends.

Later in life she returned to live in Plano where she helped with her son’s bookkeeping and raise her great-grandson Hayden.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she held many callings and received her temple endowments.

Her family was important to her and she enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.

She is survived by her daughter Tina (Derk) Morton and her son Jeff (Jennie) McGarry; a brother Benny Keith Stoddard and many cousins; 10 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Jennifer with Cornerstone, Fancee with Symbii Home Health and Hospice, along with Jennie McGarry, Sherry Powell, and Nichole Fillmore for always taking care of our mom.

The family will receive friends Monday, August 31st, 2026 from 11:00 to 12:00 at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg followed by a graveside service at the Plano Cemetery.
