Lalamae Slack Ashcraft was born on July 1, 1930, in Twin Groves, Idaho. She was the third child and first daughter of Vernon James Slack and Lucretia Ann Ward Slack. She passed away at home in Rexburg on August 11, 2022, at the age of 92.
Lalamae graduated from St. Anthony High school in St. Anthony and attended Ricks College where she met her eternal companion Glenn Bingham Ashcraft. They were married on February 16, 1951, in the Idaho Falls Temple.
After Glenn completed his education in Logan, they settled in Rexburg so they could be close to family. Glenn built their home, and then re-built it after the Teton Dam flood.
Lalamae loved to travel with her family and passed that love on to her children and grandchildren. She also loved gardening, reading, and crafting. She had a great love for her ancestors and preserved family records, photographs, and memorabilia.
One of Lalamae's greatest joys was having her family around her. She always ensured each person knew she loved them, sending cards for their birthdays and other special occasions.
Lalamae was preceded in death by her loving husband Glenn, her parents, brothers William (Bill), Verdale J, and younger sister Genevie Scholes. She is survived by her children Donnetta K (Budd) Arnold, Cheryl J (Blair) Mclean, Randall G (Karen) Ashcraft, Bonnie G (Terrell) Hill, Gary B (Jenny) Ashcraft, and Kim R (Linda) Ashcraft, 26 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
