Obituary

LaMona Gardner Petersen, 93, of Terreton, Idaho, passed away on Monday, Feb. 3, 2025, at her daughter's home in Idaho Falls.

Mona was born on Nov. 2, 1931, in Teton, Idaho to Stephen & Verna Gardner. She was the fourth of ten children.

Mona married Lee Petersen on Feb. 4, 1950, in Twin Groves, Idaho. They lived in Burton until 1960 then moved to Terreton to farm and raise sheep & cattle.

Mona was very talented. She was a seamstress and sewed many of her children and grandchildren's clothes and baby blankets. She spent many years doing ceramics in Mud Lake. She made many lasting friendships from her time spent there. Mona always enjoyed planting and tending her beautiful flowers in her yard. She also enjoyed hand painting t-shirts and putting puzzles together. Her grandchildren would also tell you that her food was the best and there was always a homemade chocolate chip cookie to enjoy. She taught cake decorating classes and enjoyed making cakes for each grandchild's birthday.

After retirement, Lee & Mona went on several trips to visit different parts of the world. They enjoyed spending the winter in Apache Junction, Arizona for several years and made many friends wherever they went.

Mona was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Mona is survived by her 6 children, Brad (Peggy), Joe, Mike (Debbie), Debbie Johnson, Susan (Howard) Johnson, and Doug, 24 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren and 35 great, great grandchildren.
