Obituary

Lance Burt, a beloved husband, father, son, and brother, passed away on December 2, 2024 - after a two and a half year battle with liver cancer - in Detroit, MI, with his wife Becky by his side. Born on August 30, 1980, in Rexburg, Idaho, Lance's life was marked by compassion, creativity, and an unyielding determination to excel in everything he pursued.

After graduating from Madison High School, Lance served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Netherlands Amsterdam Mission from 2000 to 2002.  He developed a lifelong love for the Dutch people, their culture, and the places he served.

Following his mission, Lance graduated from BYU-Idaho, and he further developed his creative skills while working at Rexburg Motorsports, laying the foundation for his professional future.

Lance married Becky Webster on May 30th, 2003. The two of them had known each other since elementary school and enjoyed snowboarding together in high school. After their missions they reconnected and began dating long-distance while Becky finished her degree. They began their life together in Rexburg, Idaho. Over the years, they shared countless adventures and joys, from mountain biking and snowboarding to traveling and raising their three children. Their relationship was one of mutual love, support, partnership, and shared memories.

Lance's professional journey took the two of them from Idaho, where he worked at Rexburg Motorsports, to Utah, where he earned an MBA from Brigham Young University, and finally settling in Michigan, the heart of the auto industry. He joined Stellantis in Detroit, becoming a seasoned automotive professional with over a decade of experience shaping and enhancing iconic brands, such as Jeep. He thrived as a marketing strategist, traveling to China and embracing opportunities to connect with people across the globe.

Lance's happiest moments were spent with his family. Whether working on house projects, biking, visiting zoos, traveling, or watching shows together, his deep love for his wife Becky and their children Abram, Lauryn, and Hazel was evident. Lance was a patient and supportive father, always guiding and teaching with a calm demeanor, whether helping Abram in Scouts, supporting Lauryn in her creative pursuits, or encouraging Hazel's adventurous spirit.

He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various callings, including at BYU-Idaho and in bishoprics. Lance cherished the relationships he built with those he served.

Lance's thoughtfulness extended beyond his family to his parents, Ken and Dixie Burt, whom he called every Sunday and texted regularly. He also shared deep bonds with his siblings, valuing the time they spent together and creating deeper connections.

Lance's kindness and understanding were unmatched. He constantly reminded those around him to see the humanity in others, teaching by example to love people as they are.

Lance is survived by his wife Rebecca (Becky) Webster Burt; their three children, Abram, Lauryn, and Hazel; his parents, Ken and Dixie Burt; and his siblings Jared (Nicole), Trev (Jeana), Ryan (Alyse), KaraLyn (Jorge), and Kevin. His legacy of love, patience, and kindness will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1610 Brewster Rd., Rochester Hills, MI, preceded by a viewing at 10:00 a.m.
