Obituary

LaRee Smith was born, lived a great life and died. (She said if it was a long obituary, she would be mad. She would be happy if we stopped at this point.)

Lenna LaRee Smith, 84, of Burton, Idaho passed away, on the morning of 29 August 2021. LaRee was born in Newdale, Idaho on the 27 January 1937 to Ray P. and Ruth Widdison Clark.  She graduated from Sugar Salem High School (Yoo Triumphy…) in 1955.

On September 2, 1955, LaRee married Gene Reed Smith in the Idaho Falls Temple.  Gene proceeded her in death on 14 December 1998. LaRee was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life.

LaRee lived a life serving her family, friends and even strangers.  If you met her, she was your friend…if she fed you, you were family. She loved the ranching lifestyle and enjoyed years watching her family ride cutting horses and rodeo and sports. LaRee earned herself the title of "The Winningest Grandma" while watching her grandkids compete over the years.  She loved watching sports and was vocal about her favorite college and professional teams.  Her grandkids often hit her up when making their sports brackets.  More than anything, she showed her love by cooking food. You missed out if you haven't had her biscuits and gravy, home-made bread and rolls, fudge, or sugar cookies.

LaRee is survived by her children Blake C. (Katrina) Smith, Logan, UT; Greg L. (Chris) Smith, Mineral Wells, TX; Lynn Ray Smith, Burton, ID; Ron C. (Karen) Smith, North Ogden, UT; Jessie Hansen (Kirk's wife); 19 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and sibling, Brent (LuJean) Clark.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, and her oldest son, Kirk.

A viewing will be held at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg, ID from 5:30-7:00 pm on Sunday, September 12. An additional viewing will be held at Flamm Funeral Home on Monday, September 13 from 10-10:45 am.  Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, 13 September at the Burton Cemetery. We are planning for lunch after the graveside service for family and friends at the Burton LDS church at 3958 W 2000 South.

In lieu of flowers, please send a fond memory that you have of LaRee to www.flammfh@aol.com. It will mean a lot to her family.
