LaVon Forbush Clinton, 90, of Rexburg, quietly passed away on February 4, 2016, at the Rexburg Nursing Home. She was born May 2, 1925, in Bates, Idaho to Charles Elmer Forbush and Blanche Mackley Forbush. She grew up in Bates, later moving to Salem, Idaho where she attended school at Sugar-Salem.
She met Ralph DeWitt Clinton in Pocatello, Idaho. They were married on June 6, 1944, in Hood River, Oregon. They lived for many years in Oregon before moving to Idaho where they lived in the communities of Pocatello, Plano and Salem.
LaVon had many jobs during her lifetime, but she loved working at Ricks College in food services, and often commented that it was a blessing in her life to be near all the students, faculty and food services staff. She was loved by her family and associates. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable garden. She spoke so kindly of her neighbors around her and they all took such good care of her. She loved having friends and family at her home. She had a special love in her heart for the babies born into her family and spent many hours holding and cuddling them.
LaVon is survived by her three children, James Ralph Clinton (Jill), Charles Elmer Clinton (Claudette), Charlotte Blanche Wilkerson (Mike); a sister, Ellen Singleton; three brothers, Harold Forbush, Robert Forbush and Max Forbush; 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ralph Clinton, brothers Clarence, Bill, Don, Jack and Benny Forbush, a sister Blanche Forbush and a great-grandson Heath Clinton Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9, at the Salem LDS Chapel. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Burial will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.
