LaVoy Mower
Clarence LaVoy Mower, 70, of Rexburg, died Sunday, April 12, 2009, at his home of natural causes. He was born September 1, 1938, in Ashton, Idaho to Clarence E. and Ila Elizabeth Johnston Mower. He attended school in various places due to his family moving a lot for work.
He served in the Army and the Air Force and received an honorable discharge from both branches.
He was married to Rae Graham for a time before divorcing. He then married Darla Birch. They later divorced. On August 17, 1992, he married Janis G. Reese at Grand Mound, Washington. They made their home in Rexburg.
LaVoy had various jobs, loved to drive truck and helped build the Ririe Dam. He had a painting business and he also worked with his mother in a home cleaning business for several years.
He loved the outdoors, fishing, camping and spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling up to Virginia City, Montana. He liked working with wood and had his own workshop. LaVoy loved God and was a member of the Christian Covenant Bible Church. Pastor Ken Parker was a big influence in LaVoy's faith and in his later life.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Mower of Rexburg; children, Cindi (Marv) Pedersen of Everett, Washington, Rich LaVoy (Melinda) Mower of Teton City, Idaho, Ken C. Mower and Tim J. Mower, both of St. Anthony, Daniel (Devani) Fullmer of Teton City; siblings, John "Jack" Mower of Island Park, Thelma (Frank) Stacey of Idaho Falls, Ralph Mower of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandchildren, Trenna Mower, Hunter and Nash Mower, Alison and Phillip Pedersen, Ashley and Bryce Crouch. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, at the VFW Hall, 490 W. 2nd North, in Rexburg.
