Layle F. Bagley (86) was born January 11, 1939 to Fred Bagley and Milrhea Shelton Bagley in Rexburg, Idaho. He died January 29, 2025. He grew up on a farm in Salem. Layle attended school at Sugar-Salem.

Layle was active in sports. After high school he married Glenda Rydalch in the Idaho Falls temple. Layle and Glenda raised three children Alan, Joan and Lane. They also raised two grandchildren Amanda Lynn and Jessica.

Layle joined the Idaho National Guard the first week he turned 17. He attended Ricks College in Rexburg for two years and then attended Utah State University. He graduated with a B.S. degree in Industrial Arts & Psychology. He went three summers in a row and got a Masters Degree in Industrial Education and Educational Administration.

He was a teacher and counselor at Madison High school in Rexburg for thirteen years. While teaching he was president of the local teachers association and regional president of the Idaho Education Association. In 1971, he was selected as Industrial Arts teacher of the year for the state of Idaho.

They lived in the Salem area and built a new house that washed away when the Teton Dam broke. They rebuilt and have lived in the area ever since. He was born and died on the same homestead. In 1975, Layle left teaching and became part owner of "Teton Traveler MFG". He then got his dealers license and started a business at his place called "Bagley's Bargain Barn" he operated this for twenty years before retiring.

Layle always had horses. He took many pack trips to the mountains with friends, scouts and family. He was the camp cook and spent many hours cooking over campfires. In later years he did a lot of cooking for large groups and family. He was always a storyteller and made a friend wherever he went and always left them laughing. When the Cowboy Poets of Idaho (CPI) started up, it was a natural platform for him to start to write and recite poetry. He joined the cowboy poets of Idaho and performed at many places in Idaho and surrounding states. He was President and Sec-Treasure of CPI receiving their Hall of Fame honor and the Silver Quill Award.

Layle was always active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He did his part in fund raising, cooking or whatever he was called to do.

During his life he had a lot of medical problems. He lived with back pain, heart problems, diabetes and arthritis. He always had a positive outlook on life and used humor to keep going. He was always grateful for his wife and family who stayed with him through it all.

He is survived by his wife Glenda. His children: Alan L. (Suzanne) Bagley, Joan Bagley, and Lane R. (Suzanne) Bagley. His grandchildren Trevor (Terance) Bagley, Marissa Edelmayer (Porter Williams), James (Britney) Bagley, and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Marvin (Karen) Bagley, sister Rita (Tom) Crapo.

Layle was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Wanda (Bud) Hunziker, Myrle (Darwin) Hilton, Venice (Roy) Palmer, Gene (Ilene) Bagley and Jack Ray Bagley.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Salem LDS Chapel at 11:00 a.m. viewing will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. as Salem LDS Chapel as well as Monday, February 3, 2025, 10:00 a.m. till 10:45 a.m. prior to service.
