LeeRoy John Tanner, 55 of St. Anthony died Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at his home under the care of his sister and Rexburg Home Health and Hospice.
He was born on April 28, 1961 in St. Anthony to John Clark and Bernice Effie Jones Tanner.
LeRoy was raised in Marysville and attended special education in St. Anthony where he received a certificate of completion in 1983. He then started attending the Satellite Center learning life skills and working at Upper Valley Industries in Rexburg where he operated a saw cutting boards for making pallets. In 2002 he had heart surgery which forced him to quit working but he continued at the Satellite Center and then attending Excellence In Everyone until recently.
He enjoyed doing picture puzzles, looking at sports magazines and watching sports. He participated in Special Olympics where he did weight lifting, basketball and hockey. He enjoyed attending special needs dances that were sponsored by Ricks College. He also liked to ride horses and swimming.
LeeRoy is survived by his sisters, Mary (Lyndon) Rinehart and Linda Rutledge; 1 niece, 4 nephews, 5 grand nieces and 1 grand nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary (581 E. 1st N., St, Anthony). The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 noon until 12:45 p.m. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.flammfh.com.
