Lela C. McCulloch, 84, of Rexburg, passed away on March 15, 2017, at home after a courageous fight with cancer. She was born January 15, 1933, in Burton, Idaho, the daughter of William Barber Clark and Zina Opal Summers. She was the 5th of six children. She grew up in Burton, attending Independence Grade School, and graduated from Madison High School in 1951.
She married Kenneth McCulloch on January 30, 1952, in the Idaho Falls Temple. After their marriage, Lela and Kenneth lived in Burton where they farmed and raised sheep and cattle. Lela helped side by side on the family farm, baling hay, driving truck, driving tractor, milking cows, feeding bum lambs and many more tasks.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many capacities. Her favorites were Young Women's and Compassionate Service Leader. She and Kenneth served in the Idaho Falls and Rexburg temples for almost 25 years. They served a mission in the Dallas Texas Temple from 1993 to 1994. She was an active member and president of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
Her hobbies included making quilts for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening, canning, cooking, and sharing with the neighbors. She always made sure everyone had enough to eat.
Lela and Kenneth had two children, Mary (Gary) Jennings of Rexburg and Robert (Marie) McCulloch of Monteview. They have 13 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and a grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 20, at the Burton LDS Chapel, 3958 West 2000 South, in Rexburg. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Burton Cemetery.
