IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lenna Lee
Siepert
December 10, 1928 – August 25, 2021
Lenna Lee Siepert was born in Hibbard Idaho, on Dec. 10, 1928, the 8th of 10 children to Mark and Harriet Hope Lee. She passed away the morning of August 25, 2021. She had 4 older brothers and 3 older sisters. 2 younger sisters later joined the family.
Their mother died in childbirth after the youngest daughter was born 3 years later. The children were each raised in the home of a relative. Their father was killed in a hunting accident when Lenna was 12. Yet the siblings stayed close to each other throughout their lives. We had many happy, large family reunions!
Lenna married Ray Siepert on May 2, 1945. They moved around a lot to find work and provide for their children.
They had 3 children, Linda Rae, Douglas L, and Brett Galen. They came back to Rexburg and raised their family here.
Ray served in the Navy, then worked in construction and was a mechanic for many years, eventually opening his own mechanic shop next to their home in Burton.
Lenna was a full time mother until her children were older. She helped at, then ran, the restaurant at the Rexburg Livestock Auction for many years. Many family members worked with her to earn spending money.
She became a rural mail carrier and worked at and enjoyed that job until she retired. She became good friends with many of the people she delivered mail to.
She loved to get her exercise by walking 2 to 3 miles a day for many years. She was a familiar site on the side of the roads in Burton and always got friendly waves and call-outs from neighbors passing by.
Lenna and Ray spent winters in Yuma, Arizona, after retirement and made many friends there. After Ray passed away in 1999, Lenna went to Yuma on her own until 2013. She moved from Burton to an apartment in town not long after Ray passed away so she didn't have to drive so far or take care of the large yard in Burton. Her son, Doug, bought the home from her.
She moved to Fairwinds in Idaho Falls in 2014 after a fall and a hospital stay. She loved it there. She had her own apartment, but many neighbors to socialize with, play Bingo, put puzzles together and play cards. She enjoyed going on the weekly bus trips to different places with her neighbors. She still walked every day, but mostly in the halls of Fairwinds.
She became slightly famous locally for making the best scrubbies for washing dishes! She spent the evenings in her recliner watching tv and crocheting scrubbies. She always had orders for more scrubbies!
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Ray, 4 brothers and 5 sisters and their spouses, her parents and mother and father-in-law Stella and Orvel Siepert.
She leaves 3 children: Linda (Morgan) Beattie, Doug (Alexis), and Brett (Jan); 9 grandchildren: Marty (Tawny) Beattie, Matt (Carolyn) Beattie, Morrell (Renee) Beattie, Mandell Beattie (deceased),Misty (Joel) Hansen, Nick Siepert, Greg (Jennie) Siepert, Stacey (Gary)Walker, Amanda (Marten) Hatch, Angela (Christian) French, Rose (Scott) Wetzel; 31 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren with 2 on the way this Fall; and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by many.
