Obituary

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Leola J. Helvin, passed away on December 17, 2018, at Madison Carriage Cove. She was 99 years old and was dearly loved by her friends and family.

She was born in Parker, Idaho, on July 29, 1919. She attended school in Parker and St. Anthony and lived her entire life in Parker across the street from the church. After graduation she attended Rick's College and earned her Associate's degree in business.

She was an exceptional seamstress and her family and friends have many sample of her work. These will always be cherished. Leola was a great example of grace and dignity. She always looked her best up the end and was courteous to those taking care of her. There are so many instances in her life that showed her love of her Savior and dedication to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was gracious and kind to everyone and had a great sense of humor. We will remember her advice of being positive and remembering that you can "choose your attitude" when facing your trails.

Leola is survived by her daughters, Winona Kay Wray of Bothell, Washington, and Karen Sue (Russell) Fay of Rexburg, Idaho, her stepsons; Thomas Helvin and Jim Helvin, her step daughter, Judy Helvin and daughter-in-law Christina Helvin. She was proud of her 31 grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren. She had many friends and relatives in Rexburg and Parker area that she loved.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred B. Helvin, granddaughter Megan Fay Jorgensen, a son-in-law Richard Alter, her sisters Myrlin Grover, Jeneal Rasmussen, a brother Fred Jackson and parents Frederick Clark and Annie Karlson Jackson. She also had two sisters Winona and Eva Jackson a brother Henry who died when they were young.

We would like to thank the health care providers who cared for mom after nearly two years at Madison Carriage Cove. Special thanks to Toni for giving mom her weekly hair style. It always lifted her spirits. "Miss Leola' had a deserved and loving attention.

The family will receive friends Thursday, December 20th from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home, 61 N 1st E, Rexburg. A short service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 21st at the Cresthaven Chapel, 1060 S. 2nd E, Rexburg. Interment will be in the Parker Cemetery. We will desperately miss our mother but still feel her love and know we will see her again.
