Leon H. Weatherston, 90, of Idaho Falls, passed away on February 16, 2026, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of natural causes.

He was born September 6, 1935, in Plano, Idaho to Leo S. and Laomi Hemsley Weatherston. He was raised and attended schools in Madison County, graduating from Madison High School. After high school he attended V-Tech where he trained to be an auto body and fender repairman. He worked at Erickson Pontiac for a number of years managing their body shop and doing much of the auto body work. He enjoyed and took pride in his work.

He married the love of his life, Bonnie Dee Higley, on April 17, 1974, in Idaho Falls. They enjoyed 51 years together until his passing. He and Bonnie enjoyed spending time together. One of their favorite things was traveling to Jackpot, Nevada.

Leon loved horses. He owned and rode horses for much of his life. He enjoyed cutter racing and rode with the Upper Valley Posse.

He enjoyed time spent in the mountains and liked to cook Dutch oven chicken.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; sons, Chad Skinner, Jay Weatherston, Kris Skinner, Cody Anderson, and Devlin Anderson; a brother, Ralph Weatherston and a sister Geneal Havens; fifteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Laomi; siblings, Marvin Weatherston, Rhea Millward, Carma Cooper, and Dale Weatherston.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, at Flamm Funeral Home, 61 North 1st East, in Rexburg. The family will receive friends and family Thursday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home prior to services. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery.
