Leona Dell Stoker Grover passed away peacefully in her home on September, 26, 2018, at the age of 89, after a short battle with cancer.
Leona was born on October 22, 1928, to Lloyd Leone Stoker and Hazel Juanita Lewis Stoker in Junction, Utah. She was the oldest of five children; Kent (stillborn), Leona, Kenneth, Linda, and Roger.
Leona attended elementary and high school in Piute County, Utah. She continued her education in San Francisco, California as a dental technician. Leona attended Brigham Young University and Ricks College where she earned a degree in Home Economics.
Leona had a firm testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
As a young woman, Leona served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern States Mission, which included the states of Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Louisiana, and Mississippi. While serving her mission, Leona met her future eternal companion Loren Homer Grover. Leona married Loren in the Manti, Utah Temple on December 27, 1952.
Leona is the mother of four beautiful daughters, the "jewels in her crown." Leona loved being a mother and supporting her husband in his church callings and other responsibilities.
Later in their lives, Leona and Loren served two missions for the LDS Church. The first as Directors of the Idaho Falls Temple Visitors Center and the second as employment specialists. Leona served as an ordinance worker in the Idaho Falls and Rexburg Temples. She served on Ward and Stake Boards of the Primary and Relief Society. She enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, and gardening, especially her sweet peas and rose garden.
Leona was an exceptional cook and kept an immaculate home. She maintained and exemplified qualities of a virtuous woman with dignity and class. She set high standards for herself and those around her and strove for excellence in every endeavor.
Leona was elected Mrs. Lincoln Court, assisted living center in Idaho Falls, Idaho, following her husband's death in 2013, and recently served as Mrs. Creekside, assisted living center, in Bountiful, Utah. In that capacity, Leona provided friendship and comfort to the other residents of Lincoln Court and Creekside. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff and residents at Lincoln Court and Creekside assisted living centers for their attentive and loving care during the final years of Leona's life.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband Loren.
