Leonard “Lynn” Horrocks

Lynn was born February 16, 1955 to Leola Emma Rider and Verl “B” Horrocks in Blackfoot, Bingham, Idaho. He was the youngest of four boys, Donald Verl (1938), Dean R (1939-1994), Leon Ray (1945). Lynn went to several schools in Blackfoot. He graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1973 where he played the horn in the school band. After graduating high school he went to Ricks College for one semester majoring in music.

At the end of the semester he informed his parents that he was going to submit papers to go on a mission. He was called to serve in Australia. While serving in Australia, his parents served a mission in New Zealand. After his mission, his parents took him on a trip around the world. One of the stops included the Holy Land.

Lynn had a passion for taking pictures that continued throughout his life. He loved to take pictures of wildlife and the Temples.

Lynn met and married Shirley Ann Samuelson on April 8, 1977, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They had twins on March 16, 1979, Malynda was born first, then came Gregory. They divorced on July 12, 1985.

His second wife was Christine Ann Blakely Wright. They were married on December 18, 1987 and were later sealed in the temple on February 18, 1989. On September 19, 1990, the couple divorced without any children being born.

On August 9, 1996, he married Karla Deon Snyder Lott, they later divorced on December 31, 1997. No Children.

He then married Gloria Jean Prindle Stout on January 19, 2008, and remained with her until his death 18 years later. They lived in Rexburg, Idaho. Lynn and Gloria served in the Rexburg Temple for several years until they were released to serve in the Idaho, Idaho Falls Mission.

Their assignment was to teach family history to the younger missionaries. Because of Lynn’s health, they lived at home while serving. He enjoyed serving on the High Council for 6 years and served in the Idaho Falls and Rexburg Temples many years.

Lynn had several health issues, he was diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic heart valve. He was able to function well with th help of modern medicine. It was later discovered that he had prostate cancer and was treated with radiation. After completing his radiation treatments, he was diagnosed with dementia. On August 11, 2026 Lynn was taken to the hospital in Rexburg where he was found to have a brain bleed. He was taken to EIRMC in Idaho Falls by ambulance. The doctors discovered a mass in his chest and a mass in his brain. He passed away at 6:15 pm on August 20, 2026, after 9 days in the hospital. He was surrounded by his family.

Despite all of his health challenges he was a faithful active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Lynn had a strong testimony of his Savior Jesus Christ.

Lynn is survived by his wife Gloria, his son Gregory (Lacy) Horrocks, daughter Malynda (Bill) Vaughn, step daughters: Amanda Stout and Audra Stout; Grandchildren: Ashtyn Stoor, Gracie Horrocks, Tregen Phelps, Edynn Horrocks, Treycen Horrocks, and Malakai Horrocks.

Funeral service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 845 West 7th South on Friday, August 28, 2026, a visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00am till 10:45 am. Burial will be held at the Grove City Cemetery in Blackfoot, Idaho.
