Obituary

Leora (Holman) Dutson, 102, of Alliance, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 9:50 pm at Danbury Senior Living in Alliance, Ohio.

Born on November 30, 1916 in Salem, Idaho to Albert Loader and Mary (Rider) Holman, she lived in Idaho for most of her life, moving to Alliance in 2012 to be close to her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Geneva.

Leora was employed in the office of the Madison County Extension Agent in Rexburg, Idaho.  Leora loved quilting, gardening and reading.  She was a hard worker and very conscientious, and essentially ran the family farm.

She served faithfully in numerous ward and stake callings in the LDS Church. She also served with her husband on a mission to Nauvoo, Ill and served for many years in the Idaho Falls Temple.

She loved her family completely, and each of the five grandchildren lived with her in her apartment in the basement of Aunt Joy's home while they attended Ricks College/BYU Idaho.

Survivors include her son, Richard (Geneva) Dutson of Alliance; two sisters-in-law, Selma Holman of American Fork, UT and Bonnie Holman of Rexburg, ID; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Roldo VanLeuven Dutson, whom she married on April 3, 1942 and who died on July 5, 1985; her parents; five sisters, Marie Widdison, Norma Hoopes, Bertella Charon, Faye Schwendiman and Ruth Prestgard; seven brothers, Albert, Darwin, Loren, Norman, Jack, Garth, and Tedd Holman.

A memorial service was held on April 7, 2019 at the Alliance Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Burial will take place in Sugar City Cemetery in Sugar City Idaho.
