IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Liam Reed
Buchanan
September 12, 2002 – July 17, 2020
Liam Reed Buchanan left this world on July 17, 2020 in Fremont County, Idaho due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Liam was born in Rexburg, Idaho on September 12, 2002, to Philip II and Angela Buchanan. He was a miracle to his mother, who had throat cancer during her pregnancy. She was able to carry him and recover from cancer afterward, grateful for her bonus blessing. When he grew up and realized this, he was known to ask in jest, "Am I crazy because you had cancer while you were pregnant with me?"
He grew up in the countryside in the community of Plano with his parents and 3 siblings. When Liam was 4 years old the family moved to Saint Anthony, next to Star Valley, Wyoming, and later the family moved back to Saint Anthony, Idaho. He attended school in Sugar-Salem, Star Valley, Madison, and South Fremont school districts and would have been a senior at South Fremont High School at the end of August. He always liked to try every available option.
Liam exuded energy and had an infectious smile that drew others to him. He had many friends. He had a deep love of animals and a passion for physical feats. He dabbled in gymnastic "tricking,"and was self -taught. He enjoyed teaching his peers these tricks. It is said locally that Liam and his best friend were known to do flips for kisses at a local swimming hole and succeeded in earning free hot chocolates for flipping in convenience stores. Later, cheerleading became his passion. He loved to perform gymnastics and to keep his squad safe while doing stunts. His favorite nicknames were Stuntman and Flipdaddy.
Liam was very intelligent and loved math. While a variety of topics sparked his interest, he liked to read books that appealed to his sense of adventure. He liked to camp and fish. Most of all he loved to be with people, especially, Zoë, his older sister by two years, as she was his main partner in crime.
He will be missed by so many.
Liam is survived by his parents Philip and Angela, siblings Doug (Danae) of Casper, Wyoming, Ethan of Idaho Falls, and Zoë, of Saint Anthony; grandparents Phil and JaNeal Buchanan, of Pocatello: grandparents Dean and Karen Peterson, of Plano, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24, at the St. Anthony Stake Center. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., and Friday from 12:00 noon to 12:45 p.m., both times at the stake center. Interment will be in the Plano Cemetery.
