Obituary

Lila Joan Morton, 81, of Rexburg, passed away peacefully Friday, June 22, 2012 at her home after a valiant struggle with a lingering illness.

She was born July 20, 1930 in Pocatello, Idaho. Joan married the love of her life, Donald B. Morton, Feb. 2, 1947 in Lima, Montana. Their marriage was solemnized in the LDS Temple in Ogden, Utah, Oct. 13, 1973.

They were blessed with four beautiful children: Larry, Kathleen, Kristy, and Kelly. She had ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and being with her family. Sewing was a special love, making things for everyone, especially the grandchildren.
She wasn't just a mother, housewife, and grandmother; she was a domestic goddess – "our little mama".

She was member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved going to church and held several positions over the years. She loved the Lord and her life reflected that love.

She is survived by her sweetheart, Don; her children, Kathleen, Kristy, Kelly; and her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Morton; her parents, Elden Bybee and Lila Clark Bybee; grandparents, Buddy and Grandma Bybee; several aunts, uncles and two half-sisters.

She is home. We love her and will miss her so much.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 29, at the Lyman LDS Chapel (1952 W. 6000 S.). The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Friday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior services. She will be laid to rest at the Burton Cemetery next to her son, Larry Morton.
