Lisa Papenfuss

July 15, 1964 — April 3, 2026

Rexburg

Lisa Louise Egbert Papenfuss, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away April 3rd 2026 in Rexburg Idaho surrounded by her husband and children, after bravely battling pancreatic cancer for two years. She was born on July 15, 1964, in Othello, Washington, and lived a life full of love, creativity, and deep devotion to her family.

Lisa grew up on her father’s farm in Connell, Washington. She was just one of the helpers always following her dad or mom around. She attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho where she met her handsome husband during a family home evening group. They were married March 1, 1985 in the Idaho Falls Idaho LDS Temple. They raised their family in Bountiful, Utah and Rexburg, Idaho

Lisa will be remembered for her unmistakable personality—she was sassy until the very end, always knowing exactly what she liked, what she didn’t, and standing firmly in who she was. Beneath that strength was a deeply thoughtful and observant soul who cared about people and made those around her feel seen.

She had a gift for creativity and preserving memories. As an avid scrapbooker, Lisa lovingly captured the stories of her family, creating keepsakes that will be cherished for generations. She found great joy in family history work and spent many hours serving at the family history center, helping others discover their roots. She also faithfully served weekly in the temple, a reflection of her quiet devotion and faith.

Lisa loved adventure and friendship, especially the simple joys of time spent with those she loved—whether skiing with friends or gathering with family. Above all, her greatest love was her family. Her grandchildren brought her immense joy, and she treasured every moment with them.

Lisa is survived by her loving husband, Kurt Papenfuss, and her children: Camille (Luke) Mecham, Kirstie (Evan) Steel, Kailey (Derek) Cherry, and Caleb (Jess) Papenfuss. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to 11 grandchildren, with one more on the way—each of them a treasured part of her heart. She is also survived by her brothers, Sid (Barbara) Egbert and Dan (Cindy) Egbert, along with five nephews and one niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Burl and Nancy Egbert, as well as many aunts and uncles and her beloved niece, Mylea.

Her legacy lives on in the memories she preserved, the love she gave so freely, and the strong, vibrant family she helped build. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
