Surrounded by her family, Lois Briggs, 76, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully May 14th 2014, at the home of her daughter and son in law, Cindy & Richard Roberson in Rexburg.

Lois was born on April 20, 1938, to Rulon and Eva Mace Hughes in Teton City, Idaho. Lois grew up in a fun and loving family, enjoying her siblings, Neal, Donna and Rex.

On June 10, 1954, Lois married Kyle Carter. Together they bought the Carter family farm and worked side by side farming in the Sugar City area. Lois was lucky enough to be a stay at home mom with the exception of helping her father in the Rulon Hughes Potato Company on a few occasions. After the kids were raised Lois worked for her son Jeff as a secretary at Upper Valley Home Health.

Lois enjoyed traveling to many different parts of the world with family and friends. She and Kyle took many trips with her parents, aunts and uncles, as well as their friends Jack and Verla Brown. She also had the good fortune of taking her kids and grandkids to Disneyland in 1986 and then a fun filled cruise to Mexico with her children.

Lois was an active member of the LDS Church and served faithfully, including in both the Primary and Relief Society presidency's as well as the Ward Librarian. She also served many years as a cub scout leader, and enjoyed her time with the boys.

Later in life, Lois married Glenn Briggs and they enjoyed many good times, which included trips to Arizona in the winters and a trip to Hawaii, as well as a cruise. After Glenn passed away Lois continued to spend her winters in Yuma, Az. with friends and family.

Lois was a member of the DUP and the Red Hats Society. She looked forward to the family reunions where she could find out the latest on her extended family members. The love of Lois's life was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her zest for life as well as love and admiration for others will forever be remembered. She was a great inspiration of always treating others kindly and will be missed.

Lois is survived by her five children Jeff (Mary) Carter, and Craig (Galene) Carter of Sugar City, Cindy (Richard) Roberson, of Rexburg, Jackie Gout, of Dillon Montana, and Todd Carter of Tetonia. 20 Grandchildren, and 55 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother and sister in law, Neal and Fawn Hughes.

She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn Briggs, parents Eva and Rulon Hughes, siblings Donna Nelson and Rex Hughes.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday May 17, at the Teton 2nd Ward Chapel with Bishop Craig Carter officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
