Lois Withers Winter passed away March 7, 2016 at Homestead Assisted Living Center in Rexburg Idaho at the age of 90. She was born on November 11, 1925, the first child of Vernon Clark Withers and Margaret Agnes Ricks. She came into the world at the home of her maternal grandparents at Hibbard, Idaho.
She attended Madison High School in Rexburg and graduated in May of 1943. She met and married Vern Winter on December 16, 1943. They were married in the Logan LDS Temple. Lois was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings.
She was an excellent cook and talented seamstress. She always kept a clean home and a full cookie jar. Lois enjoyed learning, reading, and completing her daily crossword puzzle from the newspaper.
Her greatest gift and talent was fulfilling her role as a mother and grandmother. She was involved and aware of what happened in each of their lives. She loved visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren and always remembered to send cards for their birthdays.
She was employed by J.C. Penney's as a secretary for 28 years and retired in November of 1990.
She is survived by her children, Garth (Kathy) Winter of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Charlotte (Clyde) Stucki of Rexburg, Idaho, and Brent (Denise) Winter of Clearmont, Wyoming, a brother Russell (Carol) Withers and a sister-in-law Vesta (Blair) Withers, 15 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Blair and Carl Withers and a sister Margaret Zweifel.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 12 at the Rexburg East Stake Center under the direction of Bishop Richard Bennett. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home and again on Saturday from 10:11 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery.
