IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lorna
Mackert
January 11, 1938 – February 28, 2024
Lorna Dea Carlton Mackert, 86, returned to her loving Heavenly Father on February 28, 2024.
Lorna was born on January 11, 1938, to George Albert Carlton and Dea Jensen in St. Anthony, Idaho. She grew up in Wilford with her parents and brother, Bob Carlton, on a small piece of acreage where her dad farmed.
Lorna attended schools in St. Anthony and graduated from South Fremont High School in 1956.
On June 30, 1958, she married Ray George Mackert in Idaho Falls. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS temple on April 23, 1993. They purchased a home and acreage on the Southeast side of St. Anthony which became their homestead and lifelong residence. Their first child, Brett Ray was born March 11, 1959. Followed by another son, Kirk Carlton on December 22, 1960.
Lorna worked as a teacher's aide in the St. Anthony school district for over 20 years. She impacted and was beloved by many of the youth she helped educate. She kept an immaculate yard and enjoyed her large flower garden, which was her pride and joy, second only to her grandchildren. Many family memories were made at Grandma's house during weekly "Grandma Days". Lorna's love of her grandchildren came from the time she spent growing up with her Grandma Stimpson. Lorna played a huge role in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's lives.
In 2017 she sold the homestead to her son, Kirk (Lori) but continued to live there until July 3, 2023, when she experienced her first mini stroke, resulting in her move to Homestead Assisted Living in St. Anthony. She resided there until her death.
She is survived by her sons: Brett Ray (Carrie Dawn) Mackert: Kirk Carlton (Lori) Mackert. Grandchildren: Shad (Kelsey) Mackert, Jirell (Jason) Anderson, Dana Mackert (Nate Froehlich), Brynn (James) McCurry, Keisha (Wyatt) Angell, TeNeal (Dakota) Elliott, Hilary (Jeff) Wilcox, Justin (Laura Ann) Mackert. Great-grandchildren: Caidence Anderson, Kambree Mackert, Bryson Froehlich, Jameson Wilcox, Ryder McCurry, Harper Elliott, Ella Angell, Ellie Mae Elliott, Dixon Elliott, Asher Angell, Graham Mackert, Beau Mackert.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, her parents, and brother, Bob.
