Louis Arden Stoddard passed away November 25, 2023 at the age of 95 at the Homestead Assisted Living Center in St. Anthony, Idaho.
Lou was born in Pocatello, Idaho on December 07, 1927 to Leslie Marion and Lucille Ingram Stoddard. He was born in the home of Uncle Sam and Aunt Lora Smith who were former residents of Egin Bench. He married Wanda Lou Hunter December 16, 1946 in Dillon, Montana. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on March 26, 1948. After Wanda passed away in 2008 he married Nona Orgill in 2010 she later passed away in 2011.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many positions and callings. He and Wanda served two LDS missions; one in 1994-1995 to the Pennsylvania, Philadelphia Mission and the other in 2000 to the Cove Fort, Utah Mission. They loved their missions and were blessed with many wonderful memories and experiences. They also spent many years as temple workers in the Idaho Falls and Rexburg Temples.
Lou bought the Leslie Stoddard farm on Egin Bench and loved farming. He was a hard worker and taught his children the value of hard work.
He is survived by his children; LuWana (Ray) Martin of Lehi, Utah; Margo Vane of Spanish Fork, Utah; Nancy (Boyd) Dial of Enoch, Utah; Arden (Alita) Stoddard of Egin, Idaho; Alan (Brenda) Stoddard of Boise, Idaho; Randall (Suzy) Stoddard of Grace, Idaho; and Rick (Karen) Stoddard of Syracuse, Utah; his sister Phyliss Bradshaw of Menan, Idaho. He is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wives Wanda Stoddard and Nona Orgill Stoddard, He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter Jill Ann Stoddard and great granddaughter Brooklyn Stoddard. Sisters; Vida Crapo, Beatrice Stone, Marie Hathaway, and Vae Mace. Brothers; Maurice Stoddard, Marion Stoddard, Frank Stoddard, and Harold Stoddard. Sisters in law; Donna Stoddard, Blanche Stoddard, Norma Stoddard, Brothers in law; Maurice Crapo, Jack Stone, Bud Hathaway, and Irvin Mace.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Egin Bench Chapel. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. both times at the church. Interment will be in the Parker Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
