October 6, 1944 – February 14, 2023
Lynn ElRay Webster, age 78, passed away on February 14, 2023 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family. He lived a life filled with service. Lynn served in multiple callings as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, fulfilling a full time mission in the Southern Australia Mission from the 1963 to 1965 under President Bruce R. McConkie. Lynn worked as a school teacher in the Jefferson School District both at Midway and the Rigby Jr. High for 26 years. Lynn retired from U.S. Army Reserves after 20 years of service at a rank or Sargent First Class E7.
Lynn had the opportunity to work in the scouting program for the majority of his life. Lynn had a love of Scouting serving in most assignments in the scouting program. Earning the rank of Eagle Scout, Silver Beaver, attended wood badge, and almost every service award available. He felt like one of his greatest accomplishments was that all five of his sons followed in his footsteps earning the rank of Eagle Scout.
Lynn loved spending his summers working in a firework stands for 45-years in the parking lot of Broulims and Walmart in Rexburg.
Lynn met his sweetheart, Shirlee Ruth Moedl, on a blind date in 1966 and were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 23, 1968. After which they moved to Orem Utah, while Lynn attended BYU Provo where he graduated with a BA in industrial education. After graduating Lynn and Shirlee moved to southeast Idaho where they have resided for 53 years. Living in the Lyman area for 50 years.
Lynn is survived by his loving wife, Shirlee, 6 children and their spouses: Shane and Amy (Rexburg Idaho), Paul and Melissa (Monteview Idaho), Scott and Jessica (Rigby Idaho), Andrea and Monty Spaulding (Rexburg Idaho), David and Shatzi (Rigby Idaho), and Bradley (Rexburg Idaho). He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Lynn is survived by 3 brothers Steve (Marlene)-Sugar City Idaho, Bart (Glenda Jo)-Victor Idaho, and Merlin (Katheryn)-Rexburg Idaho and 3 sisters LaRue (late Francis Ripplinger)-Driggs Idaho, Bronda (Paul Cazier)-Elk Ridge Utah, and Julie (Ron Clark)-Sugar City Idaho.
Lynn is preceded in death by his parents Mark and Donna Webster of Sugar City, Idaho, his brother Milton Webster and his wife LuAnn, his sister Ludene Webster, and great granddaughter Preslee Spaulding.
The family will receive friends and family on Thursday, February 16 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home, 61 N. 1st E., in Rexburg. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 17 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rexburg South Stake Center, 2041 W 5200 S Rexburg, Idaho. There will be a visitation on Friday morning from 10:00 to 10:45. Burial will be in the Rexburg Cemetery with military honors.
