Margene Hirschi, 68, of St. Paul, Minnesota, died December 20, 2015, of natural causes. She was born May 7, 1947, in Rexburg the fourth child and third daughter of LaVell Jacob and Donna Guinette Feik Hirschi.
She was raised and attended schools in Rexburg. She has lived in St. Paul, Minnesota for the past four and a half years. She, along with her younger brother shared the middle child positions in her family of eight siblings: Sharleen Simpson, Darl F Hirschi (Dianne), Guinette Isom (Rick), Neil F Hirschi (Kathryn), LouAnn Hauck (Paul), Robin Hirschi, and Alaris Treat (Clarence).
Margene progressed from a somewhat frail child into a woman who trained for and ran four marathons, canoed, ran river rapids, traveled and completed a more than thirty-eight year career with the United States Customs Bureau, Department of Homeland Security, mostly as an Import Specialist. She began her long career in the Washington D.C. office, lived in Arlington, VA, and later transferred to the San Francisco CA office where she lived first in Emeryville then Alameda near her sister Guinette and family and by whom she was affectionately called Aunt Genie. Guinette's daughters, her nieces, Nicole Mills and Shannon Parker, lovingly cared for her while she lived near them in Minnesota.
Love of family, friends, rock music, bluegrass, root beer, ice cream, See's candy and Hawaiian pizza, the San Francisco 49ers and quarterback Joe Montana, the Blue Angels, her favorite pal Snoopy, the gospel of Jesus Christ, and her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were governing focal points in her very active life.
She is preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her above named seven siblings and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her lively spirit and wry humor. Fond memories, till we meet again.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28, at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home prior to services. Interment will be in the Fielding Memorial Park in Idaho Falls.
