Marilyn Gee Black, age 80 of Rexburg, died Sunday, July 26, 2015. She was born August 11,1934 at Sugar City, Idaho to Clendon Edger Gee and Erma Lynette Ricks Gee. She attended Sugar-Salem schools, Ricks College and Utah State University. She lived thirty-one years in the Logan, Utah area, 5 years in Sacramento, California, 10 years in Sugar City, Idaho and the past 11 years in Rexburg.
Marilyn was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Relief Society president and as a teacher in Primary, Young Women and Sunday School. She also taught elementary school for 8 years, served in the Parent Teachers Association and she served in her local political party. She enjoyed reading.
Marilyn married Farrell J. Black on November 25,1958 in the Idaho Falls LDS temple. They later divorced. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1968. She is survived by three children; Terese (Tim) Pratt of Salt Lake City, Ut., Jefferson (Deepika) Black of Salt Lake City and Angela (Douglas) Neff of Petersboro, Utah, three grandchildren, her siblings; Marlene (Bill) Jenks of Sacramento, CA., Beverly (Kendell) Hyde of Ogden, Ut., Kerry (Kathy) Gee of Sugar City, Jerald (Toni) Gee of Sugar City, James (Marilyn) Gee of Sugar City, Ann (Bill) Moss of Rexburg, a sister-in-law Nannette Gee of Sugar City. A joy of her later life was teaching the Valiant 10 year old class in Primary. She was a great example of service to others and of enduring to the end.
She is preceded in death by her former husband, her parents and a brother Stephen Gee.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the Stonebridge LDS Chapel (475 East 7th North) with Bishop Duane Siddoway officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday morning, at the church, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.
